Custom Digital Portrait

Digital Portraits

I accept requests for custom digital portraits for people and animals. I also do couple portraits, which is perfect for newlyweds who want a portrait done of their wedding photos!

I create my paintings digitally but this is not a filter or AI. I use Adobe Fresco -  an application that I can paint on my computer with. I use my stylus like a paint brush and even use replicated oil paint brushes to create a realistic painterly effect. I go through a lot of the same steps a traditional painter would - I grid out the reference and the painting, then I start the sketch. From there I do a layer of basic color. The longest step is refining the shadows, highlights, and all the details. Once the digital painting is done, I can choose to have it printed or keep it as a digital file.

If you have any questions I can happily answer them for you!

How does the commission process work?

1. Contact me via my contact page or via email (bethmarieart@gmail.com). Feel free to send a message to discuss commission requests or if you have any questions.

2. Once we get in contact, I will ask you for the photo(s) you would like me to re-create as a painting. I will make sure that the photo fits the requirements for a high quality photo reference. The better the photo quality, the more detail the painting will have.

3. I will give you a quote for your painting. The amount depends on the size and complexity. If it is a portrait with more than one person that can increase cost as well.

4. I will start the sketching process. When the sketch is done, I will send an update. After that, depending on the complexity of the drawing, I will send 1-3 progress pictures. During the drawing process, I allow up to two revisions. Most paintings will take about 2-4 weeks to complete and 5-7 days for shipping.

5. When the painting is complete you will receive a high quality 300 dpi jpg file. If you want a print of the painting, you can purchase that for an additional cost. I use the printing service - White House Custom Color, for all my printing needs.

Examples:

This portrait is a couple from their engagement photoshoot. The original reference photo was taken by photographer Allie Prince. When I create my paintings, I use a photo they love and base the painting off that photo. I don't quite replicate it - I take the couples likeness and make the painting into something new but familiar and in my own painterly style.

A digital wedding portrait painting of the bride and the bride's father.

A digital painting portrait of an adorable neighborhood cat.

A more personal piece but a digital painting I did called, "The Piano Man"

This portrait is of three children and the client requested that it had a more watercolor look to it, opposed to my more oil paint style. Below I have a video of how I made this if you would like to see it!
